'A feast of creative explorations, conversations and upskilling for working in the arts. I felt held by the strength of other Black womens’ voices, and inspired by their generous creativity.' - Maya Chowdhry

BLACK* artists on the Move Festival
20 - 30 Oct
Various locations from the North East to the South West of England
Are you a BLACK* artist eager for your next creative adventure?
Then come along and join us for the BLACK* Artists on the Move festival/conference, pilgrimage like no other. Artists from all over the UK and further afield will converge to contemplate and create.
What's the plan? We will take long walks together, have wandering conversations, take part in workshops scheduled and impromptu and every evening there will be a performance. The idea is that BLACK* artists from all over the UK will converge to consider where we are now, what our next destination is individually /collectively and how we use our creativity to get us there. Who knows what creative collaborations and solutions will emerge.
How does it work? A bit like a tourist sightseeing bus, you can join us for one ‘stage’ in our journey and then hop off, and join us again if you wish/are able.
So where are we heading? Three venues across the UK. We plan to start in the North east of England and work our way down to the South West. Catering is vegetarian/vegan. Location details will be finalized by 28/2. Please then book using form below. Some bursary places may be available.

'With support from the Women’s Community Forum, Akulah Agbami turned her brilliant Black artists on the move idea into a beautiful reality. Starting from Devon, her home grown knowledge of Hebden Bridge; Haworth; Keighley; Bradford; Whitby; Robin Hood Bay; Northallerton and Ripon, brought together a highly talented, diverse group of artists under memorable circumstances. The unique initiative created time and space for touring, writing, sharing and performance. May the pioneering spirit of creativity continue to be as successful in the future.' - Tina Otito Tamsho-Thomas BA Hons
